I am confused by the fact that my specialist discharged me. I still have severe endo and will be having major surgery in the future. They have told me they will need a bowel and bladder specialist for the surgery if and when we decide to go ahead.
The reason for the discharge was the fact that for now they can't do anything for me. I get my pain meds from my GP. I am 13 months in to the IVF waiting list which means I should reach the top anytime from June.
If the IVF works or not I will still need surgery to sort out my messed up ovaries, tubes and bowel. So this means I now have to start the process all over again. It just seems like I have to fight for everything. Some days I just don't have the energy to fight and I shouldn't have to.
Why could I not just stay on the specialists lists without having a 6 monthly check up?
As I am out of area how do I get my GP to refer me to the doctor I need to see?
I am trying to forget about the issues that this will cause as for now it is not an issue. Sometime down the line it will be but for now I need to forget it relax and concentrate on the IVF.
I still have 28lbs to lose before that can go ahead. That is something that needs dealing with now and what I am trying to concentrate on getting done.
I really hope you can get to the doctor that you need (the specialist) and he can sort you out. I still credit that lap with getting me pregnant. I was having period pain mixed up with a bowl movement and it was horrible. Good luck and I really hope that all works out. surviveandthrive.co.za
ReplyDeleteThank you Heather, hopefully when the time comes that I need the next surgery it will be simple to get back to the doctor I need.
DeleteI am not an expert, but one thing I learned was that the GP worked for us and not the other way around.

liddy @ the unfair struggle
Unfortunately it doesn't work that way here. Thanks to the ever broke NHS it is always a battle.
DeleteThanks for stopping by :)
And they want NHS here? I can't figure out why they'd want to ruin a perfectly broken HMO system. Seriously now that we have the coverage to go see the specialists the waiting list is long.
ReplyDeleteIts wrong that they would just discharge you like that. I detest when the cardiologist did the same to me.
ugh! I'm so sorry its such a pain to get to see the doctor you need to see when you need to see them. There has got to be a better way out there somewhere! I can't believe they can discharge you without fixing the issues.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with everything, Thanks for stopping by my blog! Happy ICLW!
I hate dealing with insurance companies, referalls, etc... I swear this process would have been so much less stressful with out that side of things! Awesome job on the weight loss by the way! 40 lbs is incredible and I'm sure you'll get the rest off in time for your IVF!
ReplyDeleteInsurance companies and the health care system is so frustrating! Good luck this year!

I am so sorry for the stress of losing your specialist. But you are right, just focus on your incredible fight to KEEP losing! You have done so well and I know you can do the rest in time for the IVF! Good luck and take care of yourself in the mean time! Try to focus on the end result of the IVF!!! :) Take care friend xxx
ReplyDeleteI am trying to stay focused and what to be done now and each day it is getting a little easier. As long as the scales stay kind to be and keep moving in the right direction I will be just fine. x
DeleteStopping by from ICLW.
